Description
A set of four vintage ‘Amazing Stories’ science fiction pulp magazines, dating from October 1947, October 1948, February 1949, and November 1949, each originally priced at 25 cents. These mid-20th-century digests feature vibrant, illustrative cover art depicting fantastical and futuristic scenes, including a man on a flying disk, a woman with a man in a spacesuit, a female “galaxy raider” with robots, and a hand holding a glowing orb. Visible titles on the covers include “THE OCEAN OF THE GOLDEN GOD” by E.K. Jarvis (October 1947), “WEAPON FROM THE STARS” by R.R. Winterbotham (October 1948), “THE GALAXY RAIDERS” by William P. McGivern (February 1949), “ALL HEROES ARE HATED!” by Milton Lesser, and “THE MAD DOG OF THE UNIVERS” (partially visible) by Arthur C. Clarke (November 1949). The reverse sides display period advertisements, primarily for “The True Story of ‘Yellow Kid’ Weil” from Ziff-Davis Publishing Company and “A Secret Method for the Mastery of Life” from The Rosicrucians.
Condition report:
All four magazines exhibit significant signs of age and use, including creasing, edge wear, tears, chipping, and discoloration consistent with their vintage paper material.
