Description

A pair of vintage ‘Astounding Science-fiction’ pulp magazines, both published by A Street and Smith Publication. The June 1938 issue, originally priced at 20 cents, features ‘THE LEGION OF TIME by Jack Williamson’ and ‘MEN AGAINST THE STARS by MANLY WADE WELLMAN’ with cover art depicting an orange planet and futuristic vehicles. Its back cover advertises Camel cigarettes. The July 1943 issue, originally priced at 25 cents, highlights ‘HUNCH By CLIFFORD D. SIMAK’ with cover art showing a rocket, flying saucers, and an American flag motif. Its back cover contains wartime advertisements for Calvert whiskey promoting food and war effort contributions.


Condition report:

Both paper-bound issues exhibit typical age-related wear including creasing, discoloration, and edge fraying. The June 1938 issue is in notably poorer condition with more significant spine and cover damage. The July 1943 issue shows general wear consistent with its age.
