Golden & Silver Age Comic & Collectibles Auction
Lot 126:
Description
A collection of six individual vintage paper advertisements, likely extracted or cut from different American magazines or comic books. These advertisements date to the mid-20th century, specifically circa 1955, based on the style, content, use of postal zone codes, and corroborating web intelligence from comic book publications of that era. The pages feature a variety of products and services, including a “Lucky Grab Bag” offering miscellaneous novelties, “PEPCO RING SEAL” for car performance restoration, two distinct advertisements for a “FUNman’s Fun Club” promising various prizes from an “Archery Set” to a “White Zipper Bible”, an offer for “ANY 3 SCIENCE-FICTION” books, and a “Charles Atlas” program to achieve a “NEW HE-MAN BODY!”. Each advertisement is printed in color or black and white, showcasing period-specific illustrations, cartoons, and a photograph of Charles Atlas. A separate white card bearing the handwritten inventory number “126” is also present.
Condition report:
Overall fair condition, exhibiting signs of being separated from their original publication. Some edge wear, age-toning, and minor creases are present. All text and imagery remain largely legible.
