Description

A 1960s American comic book, ‘The Atom #22,’ from the D.C. Comics 1962 series, with a cover date of December 1965 to January 1966. The comic is professionally graded by CGC with a ‘Universal Grade’ of 4.0 and noted as having ‘Off-White to White Pages,’ encased in a protective clear plastic slab. The vibrant cover art depicts ‘The Atom,’ identified as ‘The World’s Smallest Super-Hero,’ in a dynamic pose, firing an energy blast at a bat-riding, armored figure, with additional bats and mountains silhouetted against a dark blue background. Key visible text includes the title ‘THE ATOM,’ the DC Comics bullet logo, the ‘Approved by the Comics Code Authority’ seal, ‘JAN. NO. 22,’ and a ’12¢’ price. The story blurb reads: ‘HERE THEY COME — EXPLODING FROM THEIR UNDERWORLD DOMAIN–THE EARTH’S TINIEST AND MIGHTIEST WARRIORS TO DEAL A DEATHBLOW TO THE HATED HUMAN RACE! AND THERE WAS ONLY ONE MAN ON EARTH SMALL ENOUGH TO STOP THEM!’ with a bottom banner reading ”BAT-KNIGHTS of DARKNESS!”. The CGC label further credits Gardner Fox for story, and Gil Kane, Sid Greene, and Murphy Anderson for art and cover.
