Description

Two vintage Marvel Comics Group ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ comic books, issues #96 and #97, published in 1971. Issue #96 is famously known as the ‘Drug Issue,’ published without Comics Code Authority approval, featuring Spider-Man above a street scene with police and protesters, with text such as “THE ASTOUNDING ISSUE THAT WILL SHOCK YOU ALL!” and “MARVEL COMICS GROUP IS INTO TOPICALITY!”. Issue #97 depicts Spider-Man battling the Green Goblin, with the tagline “SPIDEY FIGHTS THE GOBLIN– AND LOTS, LOTS MORE! NUFF SAID!”. Both comics feature the classic Bronze Age superhero art style and the characteristic 15¢ price point. The back covers of both display the iconic “MAKE MONEY GET PRIZES with Fast Selling American Seeds” advertisement, with the coupons appearing to be intact. Printed on paper. A separate label marked “549” is also visible.
