Description
BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! Hoyt, Waite. Autograph Letter Signed (ALS) regarding baseball and failing health, 1984. (Signed)
Waite Hoyt (1899-1984). Autograph Letter Signed (ALS). Cincinnati, Ohio: June 19, 1984. Single page of cream unlined stationery with an adhesive return address label for Waite C. Hoyt at 1071 Celestial St, Cincinnati, OH. Written in dark ink. This poignant piece of personal correspondence is addressed to "Jack" and mentions "enclosures" for a "Mr. Master." Hoyt congratulates the recipient on "reaping some rewards (REWARDS) for your devotion to baseball." Most significantly, Hoyt describes his own physical decline, apologizing for his shaky script: "My hands quiver badly. I have a difficult steering the pen writing, or tapping the keys of a typewriter. Just age and nervous nerves." This letter is of significant historical interest as it was written just three days before Hoyt’s death on June 22, 1984. Signature: Signed by the author at the conclusion: "Sincerely, Waite." Authentication: Accompanied by a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Basic Certification card, number CH61012. A matching JSA sticker is affixed to the reverse of the letter.
Condition report:
Letter: Very Good. The sheet shows two standard horizontal fold lines from mailing and minor toning consistent with age. The reverse side contains three dark adhesive mounting remnants from a previous display and a small circular JSA authentication sticker. The handwriting is visibly labored, as noted by the author in the text, but remains fully legible.
