BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! Attributed to James McNeill Whistler, Architectural Study of a Courtyard

Attributed to James McNeill Whistler (American, 1834–1903), pen and ink on toned paper. This architectural study depicts a complex arrangement of building facades with arched niches and various structural elements in a rapid, expressive style. The work is unsigned. The paper is a toned sheet with no watermarks or collection marks visible. The style and execution are consistent with the architectural sketches of the late 19th-century etching revival, closely resembling the work of Whistler and his contemporaries such as Ernest David Roth. The sheet is float-mounted against a secondary mottled backing and housed in a simple, dark-stained wooden frame. No inscriptions or labels are visible on the front. Dimensions: Not provided.

Condition report:

The paper exhibits overall toning and light foxing. Visible creasing is present, particularly along the bottom edge of the sheet. The frame shows minor surface wear and scuffing. The verso has not been examined for further marks or labels.
