BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! Collection of Nine Autographed Oakland and Philadelphia Athletics Baseball Photographs and Associated Ephemera

This collection consists of nine autographed baseball photographs and related ephemera, primarily featuring players from the Oakland Athletics and Philadelphia Athletics franchises. The photographs include a color photo of Vida Blue in a pitching motion signed in blue felt-tip marker; a color photo of Hall of Fame pitcher Rollie Fingers in an Oakland A’s uniform signed in blue felt-tip marker; a color photo of Bert Campaneris at bat signed in blue felt-tip marker; and a color photo of Jose Canseco hitting signed in blue felt-tip marker. The Canseco photo includes a Major League Baseball authentication hologram with serial number DB586112190.

The collection also contains a color photo of Gene Tenace in an Oakland A’s uniform signed in blue felt-tip marker and two photographs of Bobby Shantz. One Shantz photograph is a colorized vintage image in a Philadelphia Athletics uniform inscribed Best wishes Bobby Shantz in blue ink, while the second is a sepia-toned portrait signed Bobby Shantz in black ink. Also included is a color photo of Bob Duliba in a green A’s jersey inscribed To Aimee, Best Wishes Bob Duliba in blue ink, and a black and white photo signed Lawrence Crash Davis Bull Durham in blue ink by the minor league player who inspired the character in the film Bull Durham.

Associated ephemera includes a Lifetime Certificate of Authenticity from Real McCoy and Collectibles of Washingtonville, New York, for the Vida Blue and Rollie Fingers autographs, dated 6-23-07 and signed by Joe Zaccaro. A full-page newspaper clipping from the New York Post dated August 19, 2001, features an article regarding the true story of Lawrence Davis. Additionally, five index cards contain handwritten career highlights and biographical details for Bobby Shantz, Rollie Fingers, Vida Blue, Bert Campaneris, and Bob Duliba.

Each photograph measures approximately 8 x 10 inches.

Provenance / Authentication Note: This item originates from a single-owner collection assembled by a dedicated sports fan (with a strong focus on Notre Dame and New York Yankees memorabilia). The collector actively pursued autographs over many years through in-person events, including games, autograph shows, and visits to National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum during player events, as well as through direct mail requests to athletes and celebrities. The collection included supporting material such as handwritten correspondence sent to athletes (in some cases with payment enclosed), along with photographs of the collector with various signers. A portion of this same collection was featured in our March 21st auction, where multiple items were authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA). In regards to any items with signature(s): While this specific item(s) may not be individually submitted for third-party authentication, it originates from the same collection and shows consistency with previously authenticated pieces. As with many large autograph collections, there may be a small number of facsimile or clubhouse-style signatures present, but for the most part we have seen AUTHENTIC SIGNATURES within the collection. Based on the overall provenance and our review, we maintain a strong level of confidence in the authenticity of most items. Bidders are encouraged to review all photos carefully and bid according to their own level of comfort. No additional authentication documentation is included unless visible within the lot photos. Please reach out with any questions.

Condition report:

The photographs appear to be in excellent condition with vibrant colors and clear, legible signatures. Minimal signs of handling or edge wear are present. The index cards show some light toning consistent with age. The newspaper clipping is folded and shows typical newsprint yellowing.
