A limited edition, hand-painted porcelain figurine of New York Yankees Hall of Fame pitcher Whitey Ford, produced by Gartlan USA, Inc. in 1990. The figurine depicts the player, known as The Chairman of the Board, in a pitching motion wearing the classic New York Yankees home pinstripe uniform with jersey number 16 on the reverse. The figure is mounted on an oval, earth-toned base featuring a white plaque with the player’s autograph.
The item is signed Whitey Ford in black ink on the base plaque. This piece is accompanied by a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Basic Certification card, number LL11715, with a matching tamper-evident authentication sticker affixed to the underside of the base. It also includes the original Certificate of Authenticity issued by Gartlan USA, Inc., which is hand-numbered 1309.
The underside of the base features a green felt lining and a gold-tone identification plaque. The plaque states that the figurine is number 001309 of a limited worldwide edition of 2,360, a number symbolic of Ford’s 236 career pitching victories. The plaque further notes the piece was sculpted by Francis Barnum. A small gold sticker on the bottom reads Crafted in Taiwan.
