BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! A Collection of Fourteen Baseball Cards Including 1979 TCMA History Series and Dover Reprints

This collection of fourteen baseball cards consists of nine retrospective issues from the 1979 TCMA Baseball History Series and five modern Dover reprints of vintage cards. The 1979 TCMA cards feature colorized and black-and-white photography of professional players and are marked with the copyright 1979 TCMA Ltd. on the reverse. This group includes Walker Cooper (number 69), Jack Shepard (number 112), Willard Marshall (number 124), Walt Moryn (number 141), Cal Neeman (number 142), Ray Katt (number 235), two copies of Bob Darnell (number 257), and Ken Lehman (number 258). The five Dover reprints are marked A DOVER REPRINT on the reverse and serve as modern reissues of rare early 20th-century cards. These include reprints of Burleigh Grimes (1933 Goudey Big League Chewing Gum number 64), Frank Andrew Buck McCormick (1941 Play Ball Sports Hall of Fame number 5), Napoleon Lajoie (reprint of 1933 Goudey number 106), Eddie Plank (reprint of 1910 T206 Tobacco Card), and James E. Foxx (Philadelphia Athletics reprint). The Lajoie and Plank reprints include printed text on the reverse regarding the rarity and value of the original vintage versions.

Provenance / Authentication Note: This item originates from a single-owner collection assembled by a dedicated sports fan (with a strong focus on Notre Dame and New York Yankees memorabilia). The collector actively pursued autographs over many years through in-person events, including games, autograph shows, and visits to National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum during player events, as well as through direct mail requests to athletes and celebrities. The collection included supporting material such as handwritten correspondence sent to athletes (in some cases with payment enclosed), along with photographs of the collector with various signers. A portion of this same collection was featured in our March 21st auction, where multiple items were authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA). In regards to any items with signature(s): While this specific item(s) may not be individually submitted for third-party authentication, it originates from the same collection and shows consistency with previously authenticated pieces. As with many large autograph collections, there may be a small number of facsimile or clubhouse-style signatures present, but for the most part we have seen AUTHENTIC SIGNATURES within the collection. Based on the overall provenance and our review, we maintain a strong level of confidence in the authenticity of most items. Bidders are encouraged to review all photos carefully and bid according to their own level of comfort. No additional authentication documentation is included unless visible within the lot photos. Please reach out with any questions.

Condition report:

The 1979 TCMA cards are in excellent condition, characterized by sharp corners, clean edges, and good centering with no visible creases or surface blemishes. The Dover reprints are in very good condition with slight natural toning to the card stock and minor corner softness on certain examples. The Napoleon Lajoie and Eddie Plank reprints are housed in protective plastic sleeves. All cards are raw and ungraded.
