A collection of vintage trading cards featuring primarily historical figures from the American frontier. The majority of the items are from the 1966 series titled Bancroft Tiddlers: Heroes of the Wild West, published by Bancroft and Co. (Publishers) Ltd, London, and printed in Holland. Identified subjects from this series include biographical entries and illustrations for Daniel Boone, James Bowie, Christopher Kit Carson, William Buffalo Bill Cody, George Armstrong Custer, Wyatt Earp, James Wild Bill Hickok, Jesse James, and Martha Jane Calamity Jane Canary. Also included from this set are informational cards depicting the Pony Express and the Deadwood Coach, as well as a series checklist card.
The collection also contains two outlier cards: one from the Bancroft Tiddlers: Giants of Sport II series featuring Norwegian figure skater Sonja Henie (born 1912), and one Colorstars card (No. 3) featuring the character Cheyenne from the eponymous television series, published for A.B.C. Minors. The Bancroft cards typically feature a full-color illustration on the obverse and detailed biographical or historical text on the reverse. The Colorstars card includes promotional information for upcoming cards, mentioning an Elvis Presley card for the following week.
