Description
BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! US 1930s-1980s Collection of Mint Sheets and Plate Blocks
An extensive collection of United States philatelic material, comprising full sheets, plate blocks, blocks of four, and smaller multiples, primarily dating from the 1930s through the 1980s. The lot includes one cacheted First Day of Issue cover for the US Postal Service 8-cent issue of 1971.
Prominent issues identified include the 1938 Constitution Ratification (Scott #835), 1938 Swedish-Finnish Tercentenary (Scott #836), 1942 Win the War (Scott #905), and 1942 Chinese Commemorative (Scott #906). The 1943 Overrun Countries series is represented by multiple flag issues. Later commemoratives include 1948 Indian Centennial (Scott #972) and Will Rogers (Scott #975). Sheet-form material includes 10-cent First Man on the Moon (Scott #1382), 6-cent Historical Flags (Scott #1345-1354), and 15-cent Coral Reefs (Scott #1827-1830).
Handwritten catalog identifiers on glassine sleeves and album pages correspond to Scott catalog numbers, including #929 (1944), #993 (1950), and the 1951 sequence #1000 through #1005. The collection is organized within a blue Long Mint Sheet File binder, a Harco Mint Sheet File envelope, and various protective album pages and sleeves. Denominations visible throughout the lot include 3-cent, 5-cent, 6-cent, 8-cent, 10-cent, and 15-cent.
Condition report:
Mint condition, generally appearing to be mint never hinged (MNH) or mint hinged (MH) with original gum. Minor toning and marginal foxing is visible on some earlier 1940s sheets and album pages. Perforations are largely intact across the multiples. The First Day Cover exhibits a clear postal cancellation and clean cachet.
