BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! Trio of Original Third Reich and World War II Era Press Photographs
A trio of original vintage gelatin silver press photographs documenting significant political and military events between 1938 and 1941. The first photograph depicts the 1939 state funeral of Generaloberst Werner von Fritsch in Berlin, showing a coffin draped in a national flag with a swastika being escorted by soldiers in M35 helmets. The reverse features a stamp for Acme Newspictures, Inc. of New York and an attached typewritten caption dated October 10, 1939, identifying Hermann Goering as present. The second photograph captures Karl Hermann Frank, deputy to Konrad Henlein, at a 1938 harvest festival in Oberleutensdorf, Czechoslovakia, walking through a crowd of civilians performing the Nazi salute. The reverse bears a Wide World Photos, Inc. stamp and a caption dated September 5, 1938. The third image is a 1941 radiophoto titled Finns Mop-Up, showing Finnish soldiers at a destroyed Soviet artillery position with deceased crew members on the ground. The reverse includes Wide World Radiophoto markings and a German-censored caption dated August 22, 1941. All three photographs retain their original typewritten caption slips and exhibit various editorial grease pencil marks on the reverse and margins used for publication layout.
Condition report:
Good vintage condition consistent with age and press use. Observable characteristics include minor silvering to the image surfaces and light handling creases at the corners and edges. The original paper caption slips show natural age-related toning and yellowing. Adhesive used to attach the slips has darkened and aged over time. Original editorial grease pencil markings are present on the margins and reverses.
