A comprehensive archive documenting the life and family history of Sara Elizabeth Reid (née Thompson, 1898). The collection comprises various legal documents, professional correspondence, and a large group of photographic materials. Primary documents include a birth certificate (DS) issued by the Ohio State Department of Health for Sara Elizabeth Thompson, born November 28, 1898, in Adena, Jefferson County, Ohio; a typed letter signed (TLS) from David S. Jenkins, Superintendent of the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, dated May 15, 1954; and a legal document cover for the First Codicil to the Last Will and Testament of Sara Elizabeth Reid from the firm Brent & Valianos, Atlanta, Georgia.

The photographic component includes studio portraits on cardstock, snapshots, and real photo postcards. Notable highlights include a group portrait of the New Bloomfield Academy Base Ball Nine dated 1907, a group photograph of the New Bloomfield Academy Dramatic Club from 1914, and a portrait of Doctor Richard Tanner, identified as Diamond Dick. The collection also contains several dozen postal covers and postcards featuring postmarks from Baltimore, Maryland; Adena, Ohio; and other locations, displaying a variety of early 20th-century U.S. postage stamps. One era-specific real photo postcard depicts a blackface performance at the Minneapolis YMCA titled A Stunt in Africa. The archive is housed in a modern white three-ring binder with clear plastic sleeves.

Condition report:

Condition across the collection varies. Paper documents and legal forms show expected age-toning, marginal creasing, and minor edge wear consistent with age and handling. The birth certificate shows horizontal fold lines. Envelopes and postal covers exhibit typical wear, including ragged edges from opening and corner blunting. Photographs are generally well-preserved, though some exhibit minor surface abrasions, silvering in darker areas, and light foxing. Several photographs show evidence of previous mounting with minor paper loss or adhesive residue on the reverse. The modern binder is in good condition.
