Description

BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! An Assortment of Four Decorative Cast Iron Items Including a Set of Three Keys and a Novelty Nutcracker

This lot comprises four decorative cast iron items: a set of three oversized decorative skeleton-style keys and one mechanical novelty nutcracker. The keys are cast in iron and finished with a dark, distressed bronze-tone patina. Each key features an ornate, openwork scrollwork bow and a stylized, non-functional bit; one bit has an S-shaped cutout, another a cross-shaped cutout, and the third a circular cutout. These items are characteristic of 20th-century Victorian revival decorative metalware. The mechanical lever-action nutcracker is constructed with a black-painted cast iron frame mounted on a rectangular wooden plinth with a routed edge. The lever mechanism is topped with a hand-painted cast iron figure of a man in traditional attire, wearing a green coat and a cap with a blue toorie, and holding a golden trumpet. There are no maker marks visible on any of the items.

Condition report:

The items are in overall good condition. The cast iron keys show a uniform patina with no visible signs of structural damage. The nutcracker lever mechanism is functional. The hand-painted figure on the nutcracker shows surface wear and minor paint loss consistent with age and use. The wooden base exhibits light scuffing and minor surface wear.
