This lot consists of 15 vintage comic books published by Marvel Comics and Dark Horse Comics between 1981 and 1992. The collection primarily features licensed properties from film and television including Indiana Jones, Thundercats, and RoboCop.
The Indiana Jones selection features four issues of the 1981 Raiders of the Lost Ark movie adaptation: two copies of issue number 1, which marks the first comic book appearance of Indiana Jones, along with issue number 2 and issue number 3. These issues feature cover art by Walt Simonson and include a mix of newsstand and direct market editions. Also included are two copies of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom number 2, from the 1984 limited series adaptation with cover art by Mary Wilshire and Kyle Baker. The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones title is represented by issues number 11, 31, and 34, featuring cover art by Terry Austin and Keith Pollard.
The Thundercats series is represented by issues number 3, 6, and 7, published in 1986 under Marvel’s Star Comics imprint. The RoboCop selection includes issue number 1 from Dark Horse Comics (1992) with cover art by John Higgins, as well as issues number 3 and 7 from the 1990 Marvel Comics series.
Each comic book is individually presented in a protective plastic bag with a backing board.
Condition report:
These raw comic books have not been professionally graded and appear to be in mid-to-high grade condition, generally ranging from Fine to Very Fine. Covers retain vibrant color and original gloss. Minimal spine stress is visible on most issues, and all covers appear securely attached at the staples. No significant tears, large creases, or corner blunting are noted. Light tanning is present on the page edges of the issues from 1981.
