This lot comprises six vintage Superman-themed comic books published by DC Comics between 1977 and 1990. These items are newsstand editions as identified by the presence of UPC barcodes on the covers. The collection includes Action Comics number 599 (April 1988) featuring Superman and the Metal Men, with cover art credited to John Byrne, Ross Andru, and Keith Williams. Action Comics number 518 (April 1981) features Superman and Aquaman, with art by Ross Andru and Dick Giordano. There are two copies of Superman number 45 (July 1990) by Jerry Ordway and Dennis Janke, both containing an 8-page Jimmy Olsen Diary insert. Superman number 308 (February 1977) is a Bronze Age issue with art signed by Rich Buckler. DC Comics Presents number 22 (June 1980) features a team-up between Superman and Captain Comet.
Condition report:
The comics are in raw, ungraded condition, showing typical signs of handling and age. Observed defects include light to moderate spine stress ticks, some of which break the cover color, and minor blunting at the corners. There is standard age-related toning to the interior newsprint pages. All covers are attached at the staples. Issue number 308 shows more significant spine creasing and color-breaking marks than the later issues in the lot.
