BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! This lot features an autographed First Day of Issue postal cover signed by television icon Fred Rogers. The envelope is a Fleetwood Golden Jubilee series cover featuring a printed illustration titled Tea Party by artist Jim Butcher, depicting a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch scene. It is franked with a US 15-cent Pennsylvania Toleware Folk Art postage stamp and cancelled with a First Day of Issue postmark from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, dated April 19, 1979. The front of the cover is hand-signed and inscribed in blue ink by Fred Rogers, reading: For Craig Perón with kindest regards From your neighbor Fred Rogers. The word neighbor is written in quotation marks. A small hand-written number 2001 is present in blue ink on the lower right corner of the envelope. The reverse of the envelope features printed text detailing the history of the Pennsylvania Dutch. The item is accompanied by a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Basic Certification card with certificate number CH61074. A matching tamper-evident JSA authentication label is affixed to the reverse of the envelope. A separate light green adhesive note with Fred Rogers 97 written in black marker is also included.
Condition report:
The envelope is in excellent condition, with crisp, clean edges and corners. There are no visible tears, folds, creases, or significant discoloration. The blue ink signature and inscription remain sharp, vibrant, and fully legible with no signs of fading. The JSA certification card and corresponding sticker on the reverse are intact and in good condition.
