A collection of 13 vintage comic books featuring The Incredible Hulk (Vol. 1), published by Marvel Comics Group between 1971 and 1976. The group consists of the following issues and dates: #142 (August 1971), #156 (October 1972), #161 (March 1973), #172 (February 1974), #184 (February 1975), #192 (October 1975), #194 (December 1975), three copies of #196 (February 1976), #197 (March 1976), and two copies of #199 (May 1976). This collection includes several key Bronze Age issues, most notably the second appearance of Valkyrie (Samantha Parrington) in issue #142, a battle with The Beast from the X-Men in issue #161, a team-up with the Juggernaut in issue #172, and the first meeting between Hulk and Man-Thing in issue #197. Covers are primarily illustrated by Herb Trimpe, with Ernie Chan providing the art for issue #199.
Condition report:
These are raw, unslabbed copies in conditions generally ranging from Fair to Fine. Most issues exhibit typical signs of age and wear such as spine stress lines, minor corner blunting, and edge wear. Notable specific defects include prominent blue ink or marker scribbles across the title on the front cover of issue #142 and visible foxing and staining along the left edge of one copy of issue #196. Other issues show varying degrees of minor creasing and surface wear consistent with handling.
