This collection consists of approximately 25 war-themed comic books published by the Marvel Comics Group and its imprint, Epic Comics. The lot spans the Silver Age through the Modern Age, covering publications from 1967 to 1990. Included are several issues of Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos, notably issue 39 (February 1967), issue 141 (July 1977), multiple copies of issue 158 (June 1980), and issue 160 (October 1980). The collection features a significant quantity of Modern Age titles, including multiple copies of Semper Fi: Tales of the Marine Corps issue 1 (December 1988) and issue 2 (January 1989). Also present are The Nam issue 15 (February 1988), The Nam issue 31 (June 1989), and Stalkers issue 2 (May 1990). Cover art across the collection is attributed to artists such as Dick Ayers, Gil Kane, Marie Severin, John Beatty, Ron Wagner, Andy Mushynsky, and Mark Texeira. The comics are standard format and the majority are stored in individual protective plastic bags with backing boards.
Condition report:
The condition of the collection ranges from mid-grade to high-grade. Sgt. Fury issue 39 shows typical Silver Age wear including spine stress and minor tanning. The Bronze and Modern Age issues, particularly the multiple copies of Semper Fi and The Nam, appear to be in very fine to near mint condition with sharp corners and bright cover inks. Most comics are professionally stored in bags and boards, contributing to their preservation.
