BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! Two Underground Comic Books Including Beaver Comix No. 1 and Further Adventures of Those Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers
This lot contains two examples of 1970s adult underground comix. The first item is Beaver Comix No. 1, titled as a Special Origin Issue and All Canadian. The front cover art, signed Rand-73, depicts a woman on a brass bed accompanied by a beaver in a suit. The interior indicates the contents are copyright 1973 by Rand, Boates, Falcioni, and Knuttila. It was published by The Georgia Straight in Vancouver, British Columbia, and distributed in the United States by Last Gasp Eco Funnies. The back cover features a full-page advertisement for Roller Derby Hero endorsed by Hastings Joe Mammoth.
The second item is Further Adventures of Those Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers by Gilbert Shelton. This issue features a 50 cent cover price and is published by Rip Off Press in San Francisco. The front cover illustration depicts the characters Phineas, Freewheelin’ Franklin, and Fat Freddy running through an urban setting with Fat Freddy’s Cat. The copyright notice is dated 1972. The back cover displays a full-page illustration of Freewheelin’ Franklin with a quote regarding dope and money.
Condition report:
Both comics are in raw, unslabbed condition. Beaver Comix No. 1 has a small yellow adhesive note affixed to the center of the front cover illustration and exhibits minor shelf wear consistent with age. Further Adventures of Those Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers shows a bright cover with original gloss, secure staples, and relatively sharp corners with minimal blunting.
