These promotion orders were signed just weeks after the American Civil War. Promoting a soldier in the 88th Regiment of Indiana Volunteers (Infantry) to the rank of Sergeant. These orders were signed by the Commanding Officer at the time Major Lewis Jackson Blair. Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. He served during the Civil War as a Major of the 88th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. He was brevetted Brigadier General, U.S. Volunteers on March 13, 1865, for “meritorious services.” We offer in person or virtual previews of auction lots up until the day before the auction.
