Description

A group of four original Golden Age Will Eisner ‘The Spirit’ newspaper comic sections, dating from 1941. Each section, printed on newsprint paper, is uniformly labeled “COMIC BOOK SECTION” and “ACTION MYSTERY ADVENTURE.” Three issues originate from “THE STAR LEDGER” (dated February 2, 1941; March 30, 1941; and February 23, 1941), while one is from “THE SUN” (dated April 6, 1941). The front covers display various illustrations related to The Spirit, with one revealing a speech bubble that mentions “THE RADIO, GENTLEMEN, IS THE GREATEST INVENTION OF THE AGE. THIS NEW BROADCAST, FROM A MYSTERIOUS STATION, WITH ITS HAUNTING MESSAGE, IS THE BIGGEST THING EVER TO HIT THIS COUNTRY…IT’S DRIVING EVERYONE CRAZY! WHY, IT’S REVOLUTIONARY!” The interior pages are uniformly marked “PAGE 18” and feature additional full-color comic strip panels.

Condition report:

The overall apparent condition shows visible wear, creasing, edge tears, and toning consistent with their age and newsprint material. The cover colors generally remain vibrant.
