Description

A pair of vintage “The Shadow” pulp magazines, made of paper. The first magazine, dated January 1st, 1938, is titled “THE Shadow MAGAZINE” and advertises “Castle of Doom” and “Held in the Air.” It is priced at 10 cents and states it is published “TWICE A MONTH.” The back cover features an advertisement for Chesterfield cigarettes, dated 1936. The second magazine, also titled “THE Shadow MAGAZINE,” is marked “Oct. 15, No. 396,” priced at 10 cents, and advertises “The Headquarters of Crime INTIMIDATION, INC.” The back cover of the second issue advertises “THE Skipper” magazine for 10 cents. Both covers depict the masked character The Shadow in dynamic, action-oriented scenes.


Condition report:

Poor to fair condition. Both magazines exhibit significant wear consistent with age, including extensive tears, creasing, chipping along the edges, and widespread discoloration. Both spines show damage, and covers may be partially detached. Pages are likely brittle.
