Description
A group of four American science fiction pulp magazines titled ‘Startling Stories.’ Each issue is constructed from paper and features distinctive, colorfully illustrated covers depicting spaceships, futuristic scenes, and human figures in dramatic poses. Visible issue dates include “DEC. 1951,” with handwritten dates “Nov 47” and “Jan 48” on the spines of two issues. Taglines such as “SCIENTIFICTION AT ITS BEST” and “TODAY’S SCIENCE FICTION – TOMORROW’S FACT” are present, along with “25¢” price markings. The reverse sides feature period advertisements for items such as Popular Library books, Sheaffer pens, an “ELECTRIC WORK KIT,” and “PRESTONE ANTI-FREEZE.”
Condition report:
Fair to Good condition, consistent with age and use. Covers exhibit significant wear, creasing, edge tears, discoloration, and general surface abrasions. Spines show wear, creasing, and some tearing. Pages show age-toning and some foxing.
