Description
Showcase #37, published by D.C. Comics in March-April 1962. This issue marks the first appearance of The Metal Men and Doctor Will Magnus. Story by Robert Kanigher, with cover and art by Ross Andru and Mike Esposito. Professionally graded and encapsulated by CGC (Comics Guaranty Company) with a Universal Grade of 4.5 and ‘OFF-WHITE Pages’. The colorful paper cover depicts the Metal Men, including a large grey robot, smaller figures made of different metals (red, white, black, yellow), and a flying green creature, all set against a backdrop of a city under attack, with explosion effects. Dialogue bubbles read, “IF WE METAL MEN FAIL– THE WORLD OF HUMANS WILL BE DOOMED!” and a text box describes “THE FLAMING DOOM!”. Features a 12¢ cover price and the “APPROVED BY THE COMICS CODE AUTHORITY” stamp.
Condition report:
The comic is professionally graded and encapsulated by CGC as 4.5 Universal, with Off-White pages. The apparent condition is consistent with this grade, showing typical wear for a vintage comic book of this era.
