Description
A vintage American comic book, DC Comics’ The Brave and The Bold No. 57, published in January 1964, featuring the first appearance of Metamorpho The Element Man. Originally priced at 12¢, the comic bears the “APPROVED BY THE COMICS CODE AUTHORITY” seal. The front cover displays dynamic, multi-color superhero artwork, characteristic of the Silver Age, with speech bubbles asking “HOW DOES HE USE THE CHEMICAL ELEMENTS IN HIS BODY… …TO ALTER HIS VERY FORM?” and proclaiming “SEE THE AMAZING POWERS OF THE WORLD’S MOST FANTASTIC NEW HERO!”. The “DC SUPERMAN NATIONAL COMICS” logo is visible at the top left. The back cover features a full-page advertisement for an “AURORA SUPERMAN 98¢ HOBBY KIT,” also depicting Superboy with Krypto and Batman model kits, with text indicating manufacture by “AURORA PLASTICS CORP. • W. HEMPSTEAD, N. Y.” and copyright by “National Periodical Publications, Inc.”.
Condition report:
Good overall condition for its age. Visible creasing to covers and spine. Edge wear and minor tears present, particularly along the edges and spine. Some discoloration and foxing consistent with a handled vintage comic book.
