Lot 381:
Description
A vintage ‘Teen-Age Romances’ comic book, issue No. 38, published by St. John. Originally priced at Ten Cents, the front cover features classic mid-20th century comic art depicting a man in a suit leaning over a woman in a car, with dialogue such as “HERE’S NO ROOM BACK HERE, MARY…GO CURL UP ON THE FRONT SEAT AND TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON!” and “BUT WE’RE STALLED HERE FOR THE NIGHT…SO LET’S MAKE THE BEST OF IT!”. It also includes titles like “WANTED – PEN PALS…SEE PAGE 17” and “LOVE MADE ME AN OUTCAST”. The “ANC” and “COMICS” logos are visible on the upper portion. The back cover displays two period advertisements: one for a “NEW Real, LIVE MINIATURE DOG” from Mrs. Ruth Long, and another for “20 Any Photo Copied $1 BILLFOLD Size Pictures” by Dean Studios and Movyland Studios. A white sticker with the number “381” in black text is adhered to the bottom edge of both covers.
Condition report:
The comic exhibits noticeable wear consistent with its age, including creasing, edge tears, and corner damage. Discoloration is present on both covers.
