Description
A pair of vintage American comic books, comprising Atlas Comics’ *Uncanny Tales No. 24* (September) and *Mystic No. 34* (November). Both are made of paper, likely from the mid-20th century, featuring horror, mystery, or science fiction themes.
*Uncanny Tales No. 24* displays cover art of a man running from a monstrous cavern and carries the "Approved by the Comics Code Authority" stamp, along with a "10¢" price. Key text includes "ALL BRAND-NEW TALES!", "WILL YOU JOIN JUMBE GANNON IN THE ‘ROOM OF NO RETURN’?", and "IN THIS ISSUE: ‘HUMAN ON THE RUN!’". The reverse side features a period advertisement for "Train at Home for Good Radio-Television Jobs".
*Mystic No. 34* is also marked "10¢" and shows a frantic man falling, a woman, and a city scene. Its cover text reads "THE MOST UNUSUAL STORIES EVER TOLD!" and "THE MAN WHO COULDN’T COME BACK!". The reverse side features a period advertisement for "REDUCE with DELICIOUS CANDY".
A small white notecard with "392" handwritten in black marker is present with the lot.
Condition report:
Both comics exhibit significant wear consistent with age and handling, including heavy creasing, tears, pronounced edge wear, spine roll, and discoloration to the covers and pages. Pages are toned.
