Description
This lot features a group of four vintage American comic books, prominently including a ‘Big Shot’ Golden Age comic from circa 1947. The ‘Big Shot’ comic, marked 10c and July, features contributors such as JOE PALOOKA and BUCK ROGERS, and displays a Charles Atlas bodybuilding advertisement on its back cover. Also included are ‘I Love Lucy comics’ (Dell 591), which features an advertisement for the ‘OFFICIAL RUCK HOUND CLUB’ from Kellogg’s CORN FLAKES on its back cover; ‘DICK TRACY’ No. 113, featuring a ‘Rogues’ Gallery’ on the back cover with characters such as STEVE NISSAN and LARCENY LU; and ‘ACE COMICS’, marked 10c and July. All comics are rendered in a classic cartoon illustrative style, made of printed paper with staple bindings, and likely date from the mid-20th century (circa 1950s) based on visible advertisements and popular culture references.
Condition report:
The comics exhibit typical wear consistent with age and use, including creasing, edge wear, spine stress, and general paper tanning. Overall condition is fair to good.
