Description
Three vintage American science fiction pulp magazines, titled ‘Startling Stories,’ dated May 1942, January 1947, and March 1947. Each issue was originally priced at 15¢ and identified as ‘A Thrilling Publication’ of ‘SCIENTIFICTION.’ The paper covers feature characteristic vibrant, dramatic sci-fi artwork, depicting scenes such as ‘Blood on the Moon’ (May 1942), ‘The Impossible World’ (March 1947), and ‘The Star of Life’ (January 1947). Authors noted include Lando Binder, P. Schuyler Miller, and Edmond Hamilton. The reverse sides display various period advertisements. All issues appear to be complete. A white slip of paper bearing the handwritten number ’54’ is present alongside the magazines.
Condition report:
Fair to Good condition. All three magazines exhibit considerable age and use. Widespread creasing, tearing, and edge chipping are present on covers and pages. Spines show roll and significant wear. Significant discoloration and tanning are evident throughout the paper. The May 1942 issue appears particularly worn with more pronounced creasing and edge damage. All issues appear to be complete.
