Description

A group of three vintage American pulp science fiction magazines, comprising two identical copies of *Planet Stories*, Vol. 1, No. 7, Summer 1941, and one additional issue of *Planet Stories*. The two Summer 1941 issues are priced at ’15¢’ and feature stories such as ‘VASTALS OF THE MASTER-WORLD’ and ‘OUTLAWS OF VENUS’, with cover art by Virgil Finlay and contributions from authors including Leigh Brackett, Sam Moskowitz, and Henry Hasse. The third magazine is priced at ’20¢’ and lists ‘THE DRAGON-QUEEN OF JUPITER’, ‘MUTINY ABOARD THE TERRA’, and ‘INVADERS OF THE FORBIDDEN MOON’ among its contents. All magazines are constructed of paper with stapled bindings. Rear covers display period advertisements, including one for home study to ‘BE A RADIO TECHNICIAN’ and another for watches from ‘I.W. Sweet’ of New York, offering ’10 MONTHS TO PAY’. A small yellow sticky note with the number “57” is present with the lot.


Condition report:

Exhibit typical age-related wear, including yellowing and brittle paper, creasing, edge wear, and some minor tearing. Stapled bindings remain intact but show signs of stress. Covers show surface rubbing and minor discoloration consistent with handling and age.
