A collection of eleven vintage comic books from the DC Comics series Sugar and Spike, dating from 1965 to 1971. This lot covers the late Silver Age and early Bronze Age of comic book history. The titles were published by National Periodical Publications and feature stories and cover art by creator Sheldon Mayer. The collection includes Issue No. 59 (July 1965), No. 61 (November 1965), No. 70 (May 1967), No. 76 (May 1968), No. 85 (September 1969), No. 88 (March 1970), No. 89 (May 1970), No. 90 (July 1970), No. 91 (September 1970), No. 92 (November 1970), and No. 93 (January 1971). Each comic is individually stored in a plastic bag with a cardboard backing board. The issues feature various seasonal and themed stories, including the Big Summer Issue, Halloween Special, and several issues from the Tomorrow’s Teen-agers run.
Condition report:
The comic books are in raw, ungraded condition and show moderate wear consistent with age and typical handling. Observable defects include spine stress lines, minor spine rolling, and color breaks across the spines of several issues. Issue No. 88 shows more significant wear and possible staining along the spine edge. Issues No. 59 and No. 88 exhibit visible edge discoloration. General surface wear, blunted corners, and minor creasing are present across the collection. Internal pages have not been inspected for page quality or specific defects.
