This lot consists of seven comic books and graphic novels featuring the character Grendel, primarily created, written, and illustrated by Matt Wagner. The collection includes Grendel: Devil by the Deed published by Dark Horse Comics, a graphic novel format work featuring additional art by Michael Allred, Guy Davis, Kelley Jones, Teddy Kristiansen, Jason Pearson, Tim Sale, and John K. Snyder. Also included is Grendel: Devil’s Vagary, a one-shot published by Comico. The lot features the complete two-part prestige format crossover series Batman/Grendel, co-published by DC Comics and Dark Horse Comics, consisting of issue number 1 (Devil’s Bones) and issue number 2 (Devil’s Dance). Additional titles include the prestige format one-shot Grendel: Devil Quest published by Dark Horse Comics, and two issues from the Grendel Classics reprint series: Devil Eyes number 2 of 2 and Devil Tracks number 1 of 2. Condition report:
The comic books are in raw, ungraded condition. Based on visual inspection through protective packaging, the issues appear to be in Very Fine to Near Mint condition. The covers display bright colors and sharp corners. Spines are straight with minimal signs of stress or wear. No significant creases, tears, or stains are visible. Each comic is individually stored in an archival-safe protective bag with an acid-free backing board.
