This is a copy of Deathmate Prologue, published jointly by Valiant and Image Comics in September 1993. This issue serves as the opening chapter of the major crossover event between the two publishers. The book features a Gold Foil variant cover with a jam piece of artwork contributed to by several notable comic book creators. The cover features four hand-written signatures in metallic-toned markers. The signatures are identified as Jim Lee, Michael Grell, Barry Windsor-Smith, and Bob Layton. A small printed credit on the cover identifies Jim Lee and Bob Layton as contributors. The publisher logos for both Valiant and Image are present on the front cover.
Condition report:
This raw comic book is in mid-to-high grade condition. The metallic gold foil cover shows light surface scuffing and minor fingerprints consistent with handling. Several small horizontal stress lines, known as spine ticks, are visible along the length of the spine. The corners exhibit very minor blunting. The signatures appear clear and are located on both the artwork and the gold foil border. Please note that the signatures have not been officially authenticated by a third-party service.
