Description
BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! A Pair of Monster Madness No. 1 Magazines, Marvel Monster Group (1972)
This lot consists of two copies of the premier issue of Monster Madness, published in 1972 by Curtis Magazines, an imprint of the Marvel Monster Group. The publication features black and white photographs from classic horror films with humorous dialogue bubbles added, credited to Stan Lee. The front covers display Boris Karloff as Frankenstein’s monster with yellow and red title lettering and a speech bubble reading Mabel! Mabel! The Ajax turned blue! The back covers feature a black and white photograph of Karloff in his monster makeup seated in a barber chair. Visible markings include the Curtis logo and 02166 code at the top left, alongside the Marvel Monster Group box indicating No. 1 and a 60 cent price point. Both copies feature a purple ink stamp showing the number 10 over the face of the monster on the front cover.
Condition report:
Both items are in raw, unslabbed condition. Each copy exhibits a distinct purple 10 ink stamp on the center of the front cover over the primary image. General surface and edge wear are present, with multiple color-breaking creases and rubbing along the spines. The corners show minor blunting, and the paper displays light yellowing consistent with age.
