This collection consists of nine vintage American comic books from various publishers including DC Impact, Charlton Comics, Harvey Publications, and Gilberton, dating from approximately 1960 to 1991. The lot contains three issues from DC’s Impact Comics imprint: The Web #1 (September 1991), The Comet #1 (July 1991), and The Comet #2 (August 1991). Charlton Comics titles include Space: 1999 #6 (September 1976) with cover art by Gray Morrow, Valley of the Dinosaurs #10 (October 1976) with cover art by Fred Himes, Popeye the Sailor #137 (October 1976) with cover art by George Wildman, and Timmy the Timid Ghost #7 (December, circa 1960s) with cover art by Al D’Agostino. The lot is completed by Sad Sack #286 (June, circa early 1980s) from Harvey Publications, credited to series creator George Baker, and The World Around Us #7: Great Explorers (circa late 1950s/early 1960s) from the Gilberton Classics Illustrated line. Several issues are based on television properties from ITC and Hanna-Barbera.
Condition report:
The items are in raw, unslabbed condition showing a range of preservation states. The Impact Comics issues are housed in polybags and appear to be in Very Fine to Near Mint condition. The Charlton superhero and cartoon titles are housed in bags with boards and exhibit minor to moderate spine stress, light creasing, and typical age-related paper tanning. Sad Sack #286 shows light spine and shelf wear. Timmy the Timid Ghost #7 displays significant wear including spine rolling, multiple creases, and heavy page tanning. The World Around Us #7 shows notable spine distress, edge wear, and paper loss along the spine and staples.
