This collection consists of six items, including vintage Dell comic books, modern Vertigo issues, a reprint collection, and a humor paperback. Included are two issues of the Dell Comics series Space Man: issue number 7 from September-November 1963 and issue number 8 from October 1972, both featuring painted cover illustrations. The DC Comics Vertigo imprint is represented by Animal Man Annual number 1 from 1993, which is part of The Children’s Crusade crossover event, and The Girl Who Would Be Death number 1 from December 1998. The lot also features a modern trade paperback reprint from Lulu.com containing Adventures into the Unknown! issues number 33 and 34, originally published by the American Comics Group. Additionally, there is a vintage mass market paperback titled Mad Strikes Back! published by Ballantine Books, which includes classic humor material from the early comic book era of Mad magazine.
Condition report:
The collection shows a range of conditions. The modern Adventures into the Unknown! reprint is in excellent, near-new condition. The two Vertigo issues, Animal Man Annual and The Girl Who Would Be Death, are bagged and boarded and appear to be in high grade. Space Man number 7 shows significant vintage wear including spine stress, edge rubbing, corner creases, and a blue ink notation on the back cover. Space Man number 8 exhibits moderate wear with spine stress and a corner crease, as well as a blue ink notation on the back. The Mad Strikes Back! paperback shows typical vintage wear including spine rubbing and page tanning.
