A group of vintage softcover comic books published primarily by Gold Key and Whitman, both imprints of Western Publishing Company, dating from the late 1960s through the 1970s. The collection comprises various licensed properties from Walt Disney, Warner Bros., Walter Lantz, and Leonardo TTV. Titles include Walt Disney Presents Peter Pan (15c), Walt Disney Scamp (No. 10215-002, 15c), Boris Karloff Tales of Mystery (No. 90053-208, 15c), Yosemite Sam and Bugs Bunny (No. 10263-103, 15c), and Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker (30c). The assortment also contains multiple issues of Underdog (including No. 90294-808, 35c) and Tweety and Sylvester (including No. 90094-804, 35c and a 15c issue). The comics feature pictorial wrappers and staple-bound construction. Most items are presented in protective plastic sleeves, some of which bear small green adhesive labels with handwritten inventory numbers.
Condition report:
The collection exhibits varying degrees of wear consistent with age and use. Visible defects include spine creasing, edge wear, corner blunting, and surface abrasions. The 15-cent Tweety and Sylvester issue shows significant wear, including tearing and paper loss along the spine edge. The Scamp issue shows noticeable color break and wear to the black cover. Page toning is present in several volumes. Many are housed in secondary protective sleeves.
