BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! Assortment of Five Autographed Heisman Trophy Winner Magazine Articles and Promotional Photographs

This collection consists of five signed items featuring Heisman Trophy winners along with three handwritten identification notes. The lot includes a black and white 8 by 10 inch promotional card for Doug Flutie, the 1984 Heisman winner from Boston College, which is signed Doug Flutie #22 in black ink. There is an 8 by 10 inch color print of a painted portrait of Paul Hornung by the artist MacDonald, signed in blue ink in the upper left corner with the inscription Good luck Paul Hornung 56 Heisman. Two magazine advertising features from a Suzuki presents Heisman Heroes series are included: one titled Berwanger Was The First regarding the 1935 winner Jay Berwanger and signed Jay Berwanger in black ink, and another titled The Fabulous Baker Boy regarding 1962 winner Terry Baker and signed Terry Baker in black ink. The final autographed item is a Sports Illustrated magazine article titled Joe Bellino, Navy Destroyer, featuring a extensive personalized inscription in black ink that reads TO ZACHARY – PLAY HARD ON THE SPORTS FIELDS & STUDY HARD IN SCHOOL. Joe Bellino NAVY – HEISMAN 1960 – #27. The lot is accompanied by three handwritten notes on lined paper that provide identification and historical context for the Berwanger, Baker, and Bellino items.

Provenance / Authentication Note: This item originates from a single-owner collection assembled by a dedicated sports fan (with a strong focus on Notre Dame and New York Yankees memorabilia). The collector actively pursued autographs over many years through in-person events, including games, autograph shows, and visits to National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum during player events, as well as through direct mail requests to athletes and celebrities. The collection included supporting material such as handwritten correspondence sent to athletes (in some cases with payment enclosed), along with photographs of the collector with various signers. A portion of this same collection was featured in our March 21st auction, where multiple items were authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA). In regards to any items with signature(s): While this specific item(s) may not be individually submitted for third-party authentication, it originates from the same collection and shows consistency with previously authenticated pieces. As with many large autograph collections, there may be a small number of facsimile or clubhouse-style signatures present, but for the most part we have seen AUTHENTIC SIGNATURES within the collection. Based on the overall provenance and our review, we maintain a strong level of confidence in the authenticity of most items. Bidders are encouraged to review all photos carefully and bid according to their own level of comfort. No additional authentication documentation is included unless visible within the lot photos. Please reach out with any questions.

Condition report:

The items are in good overall condition. The magazine articles and advertising features show typical rough and uneven edges from being removed from their original publications. There is light handling wear and minor creasing visible on the magazine-weight paper stock. The promotional card and color print are well-preserved with sharp corners and no significant surface wear.
