This lot features a hand-painted commemorative First Day of Issue envelope, or cachet, celebrating Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame running back O.J. Simpson. The envelope contains original watercolor and ink artwork by artist Howard Hunt, showing a portrait of Simpson and an action sequence of him in his number 32 jersey evading a defender. The envelope is postmarked September 9, 1990, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and features a USA 25 holographic postage stamp. The item is signed by O.J. Simpson in blue ink and by the artist, Howard Hunt, in black ink at the bottom right. This piece is authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA) under certification number CH61009. The lot includes a JSA Basic Certification card and a corresponding tamper-evident sticker is applied to the front of the envelope in the lower left corner.
