This vintage ceramic liquor decanter, manufactured by Royal Halburton China in 1970, is modeled in the form of a Baltimore football player. The figure is finished in a metallic gold-tone glaze and features the player number 87 on the front and back of the jersey. The base includes printed text reading BALTIMORE and WE RE NO. 1 on the sides, with a laurel wreath graphic on the back inscribed FOOTBALL CAPITAL OF THE WORLD 1970-1971. A front label identifies the original contents as Mr. Boston Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, 100 months old, 86 proof, 4/5 quart. A State of Maryland 1/5 gallon liquor excise tax stamp is affixed to the base. The head of the figure serves as the decanter stopper. The underside of the base features incised marks reading OMB LIQUOR BOTTLE No. 6, ROYAL HALBURTON CHINA, and 1970.
Condition report:
The decanter shows visible surface wear consistent with age. There is significant rubbing and loss to the gold-tone finish on the helmet and along the edges of the base. Minor scuffs and surface scratches are present throughout the glazed body.
