BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! A Collection of 12 Vintage Topps Baseball Cards featuring Hall of Fame Players, 1957-1972

A collection of 12 vintage Topps baseball cards from various years between 1957 and 1972, featuring several Hall of Fame players and notable rookie-era cards. The lot includes a 1957 Topps Gil McDougald (number 125) of the New York Yankees; a 1970 Topps Bob Gibson (number 530) of the St. Louis Cardinals; and three 1971 Topps black-border cards including Brooks Robinson (number 450), Jim Palmer (number 570), and Jake Gibbs (number 382). The 1972 Topps set is represented by four copies of the Harmon Killebrew In Action card (number 51), as well as solo cards for Darrell Evans (number 439) and George Foster (number 445), both of which are considered these players’ first solo Topps appearances. The cards are housed in individual plastic top loaders with soft sleeves.

Provenance / Authentication Note: This item originates from a single-owner collection assembled by a dedicated sports fan (with a strong focus on Notre Dame and New York Yankees memorabilia). The collector actively pursued autographs over many years through in-person events, including games, autograph shows, and visits to National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum during player events, as well as through direct mail requests to athletes and celebrities. The collection included supporting material such as handwritten correspondence sent to athletes (in some cases with payment enclosed), along with photographs of the collector with various signers. A portion of this same collection was featured in our March 21st auction, where multiple items were authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA). In regards to any items with signature(s): While this specific item(s) may not be individually submitted for third-party authentication, it originates from the same collection and shows consistency with previously authenticated pieces. As with many large autograph collections, there may be a small number of facsimile or clubhouse-style signatures present, but for the most part we have seen AUTHENTIC SIGNATURES within the collection. Based on the overall provenance and our review, we maintain a strong level of confidence in the authenticity of most items. Bidders are encouraged to review all photos carefully and bid according to their own level of comfort. No additional authentication documentation is included unless visible within the lot photos. Please reach out with any questions.

Condition report:

These are vintage cards in raw, ungraded condition showing typical signs of age and handling. The 1971 Topps cards (Gibbs, Robinson, and Palmer) show significant chipping and wear along the sensitive black borders and corners. The 1957 McDougald card exhibits rounded corners and moderate surface wear. The 1970 Bob Gibson card shows soft corners and average centering. The 1972 cards generally display minor corner softening, with the George Foster card showing centering shifted noticeably toward the right border. Overall conditions vary, with common issues including corner rounding, edge wear, and varying degrees of centering.
