This assortment of autographed National Football League memorabilia consists of multiple signed color photographs and one typed letter. The collection features several prominent head coaches, most notably Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots. The Belichick items include a signed 8×10 color photograph inscribed with his Super Bowl championship years and a hand-signed typed letter on New England Patriots stationery dated September 7, 2012. Other Super Bowl-winning coaches represented in signed 8×10 photographs include Sean Payton (New Orleans Saints), Tony Dungy (Indianapolis Colts), Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh Steelers), Bill Cowher (Pittsburgh Steelers), and Jon Gruden (Tampa Bay Buccaneers). The collection also includes signatures from Mike Ditka (Chicago Bears), Marv Levy (Buffalo Bills), Rex Ryan (New York Jets), Mike McCarthy (Green Bay Packers), Herm Edwards (Kansas City Chiefs), Mike Singletary (San Francisco 49ers), Lovie Smith (Chicago Bears), Josh McDaniels (Denver Broncos), Eric Mangini (Cleveland Browns), Mike Smith (Atlanta Falcons), Tony Sparano (Miami Dolphins), Dick Jauron (Buffalo Bills), Wade Phillips (Dallas Cowboys), Todd Haley (Kansas City Chiefs), and Jeff Fisher (Tennessee Titans). Additionally, there is a signed photo of Buffalo Bills executive Buddy Nix. Many of the signatures include personal inscriptions to Zachary or Zachery. The majority of the items are 8×10 color photographs showing the subjects in team-branded sideline apparel. No third-party authentication certificates or labels are present.
Provenance / Authentication Note: This item originates from a single-owner collection assembled by a dedicated sports fan (with a strong focus on Notre Dame and New York Yankees memorabilia). The collector actively pursued autographs over many years through in-person events, including games, autograph shows, and visits to National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum during player events, as well as through direct mail requests to athletes and celebrities. The collection included supporting material such as handwritten correspondence sent to athletes (in some cases with payment enclosed), along with photographs of the collector with various signers. A portion of this same collection was featured in our March 21st auction, where multiple items were authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA). In regards to any items with signature(s): While this specific item(s) may not be individually submitted for third-party authentication, it originates from the same collection and shows consistency with previously authenticated pieces. As with many large autograph collections, there may be a small number of facsimile or clubhouse-style signatures present, but for the most part we have seen AUTHENTIC SIGNATURES within the collection. Based on the overall provenance and our review, we maintain a strong level of confidence in the authenticity of most items. Bidders are encouraged to review all photos carefully and bid according to their own level of comfort. No additional authentication documentation is included unless visible within the lot photos. Condition report:
The collection appears to be in good condition. Most photographs show sharp corners and clean surfaces with only minor evidence of handling wear. The Bill Belichick letter shows standard horizontal folding creases from its original mailing. No significant tears, stains, or fading to the signatures are visible.
