This lot features two early-career baseball cards depicting New York Yankees Hall of Fame shortstop Derek Jeter. The first card is a 1992 Classic C3 Collectors Club Derek Jeter card, number 4. The front displays Jeter in a fielding stance wearing a pinstriped uniform. The lower-left corner features the C3 logo, and the lower-right contains his name and position. The reverse side lists his high school statistics from Kalamazoo Central High School (1989-1992) and notes his selection as the sixth overall pick in the 1992 draft. It bears the copyright 1992 Classic Games Inc.
The second card is a 1994 Ted Williams Card Company Derek Jeter card, number 124, part of The Campaign subset. The front shows Jeter in a batting stance for the Greensboro Hornets with a translucent background portrait. The right side features his name vertically, and the lower-right displays the company logo. The reverse details his 1993 season performance in the South Atlantic League, including his 56 errors and his offensive statistics. It includes the copyright 1994 The Ted Williams Card Co. and the MLB Players Association logo. Both cards are housed in clear soft plastic sleeves.
Provenance / Authentication Note: This item originates from a single-owner collection assembled by a dedicated sports fan (with a strong focus on Notre Dame and New York Yankees memorabilia). The collector actively pursued autographs over many years through in-person events, including games, autograph shows, and visits to National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum during player events, as well as through direct mail requests to athletes and celebrities. The collection included supporting material such as handwritten correspondence sent to athletes (in some cases with payment enclosed), along with photographs of the collector with various signers. A portion of this same collection was featured in our March 21st auction, where multiple items were authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA). In regards to any items with signature(s): While this specific item(s) may not be individually submitted for third-party authentication, it originates from the same collection and shows consistency with previously authenticated pieces. As with many large autograph collections, there may be a small number of facsimile or clubhouse-style signatures present, but for the most part we have seen AUTHENTIC SIGNATURES within the collection. Based on the overall provenance and our review, we maintain a strong level of confidence in the authenticity of most items. Bidders are encouraged to review all photos carefully and bid according to their own level of comfort. No additional authentication documentation is included unless visible within the lot photos. Please reach out with any questions.
Condition report:
Both cards appear to be in excellent condition with sharp corners and edges. The surfaces are clean with no visible creases or scratches through the protective sleeves. The 1992 Classic card exhibits centering that slightly favors the left border on the front. The 1994 Ted Williams card shows excellent centering.
