This lot consists of three movie promotional pieces featuring two original theatrical lobby cards and one photographic reproduction. The first item is an original title lobby card for the 1956 20th Century Fox film The Proud Ones starring Robert Ryan, Virginia Mayo, and Jeffrey Hunter. The card is printed in CinemaScope and Color by De Luxe with a 1956 copyright mark in the lower margin. The reverse side retains two original mailing labels addressed to the National Screen Service Corp. in New York, indicating period theatrical distribution. The second item is an original black and white theatrical lobby card for the 1964 release of Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb. This card is designated as number 4 in the set by the National Screen Service code 64/4 in the lower right margin and depicts George C. Scott as General Buck Turgidson and Tracy Reed as Miss Scott. The third item is a photographic title card reproduction for the 1956 MGM production Forbidden Planet. While featuring the period artwork and credits for the film, the reverse side contains a repeating grey watermark reading This Paper Manufactured by Kodak, identifying it as a later photographic print.
Condition report:
The Proud Ones lobby card is in fair to good condition, exhibiting prominent horizontal and vertical mailing folds, edge wear, surface creasing, and dark smudging in the lower-left corner. The Dr. Strangelove lobby card is in very good condition with light handling wear and a small soft crease in the lower-right corner. The Forbidden Planet reproduction is in excellent condition with a single minor corner crease and negligible handling wear.
