An assortment of approximately 14 autographed items consisting of publicity photographs and ephemera featuring prominent American sports broadcasters and athletes. The collection includes signatures from several long-time ESPN personalities and championship-level athletes.
Broadcaster and media signatures include:
Dick Vitale: One color publicity photograph inscribed To Nick Thanks Awesome Dick Vitale HOF 08 with ESPN and Steve Johnson credits and one 2010 V Foundation for Cancer Research event sheet with a personalized inscription and signature.
Ahmad Rashad: One color publicity photograph with NBA Access logo and one signed personal note on NBA Access stationery.
Lee Corso: One black and white publicity headshot inscribed To Aimee Good Luck with ESPN and Rich Arden credits.
Chris Fowler: One black and white publicity photograph inscribed Aimee Best Wishes with ESPN and Rich Arden credits.
Kirk Herbstreit: One black and white publicity photograph inscribed Aimee Best Wishes with ESPN and Rich Arden credits.
Hannah Storm: One color publicity headshot inscribed To Nick with ESPN logo.
Suzy Kolber: One black and white publicity headshot inscribed Nick Blessings 06 with ESPN logo.
Ken Squier: One black and white publicity photograph featuring the subject in a CBS Sports jacket inscribed Nick.
Philadelphia Phillies Announcers: One Baseball and Ballantine 3 Ring Team print featuring Byrum Saam, Richie Ashburn, and Bill Campbell, hand-signed in blue ink by Bill Campbell.
Athlete signatures include:
Pat Day: Two color photographs showing the jockey after major victories including the 1992 Kentucky Derby and 1998 Breeders Cup Classic. Both feature religious inscriptions to Zachary and signatures.
Sarah Hughes: One color photograph of the figure skater signed Sarah Hughes with hand-drawn heart and butterfly motifs.
NASCAR Drivers: One color Mobil 1 racing publicity photograph signed by drivers Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch.
The majority of items are standard 8 inch by 10 inch publicity formats. Many items include personal inscriptions to Nick, Aimee, or Zachary. There are no third-party certificates of authenticity accompanying this lot.
Provenance / Authentication Note: This item originates from a single-owner collection assembled by a dedicated sports fan (with a strong focus on Notre Dame and New York Yankees memorabilia). The collector actively pursued autographs over many years through in-person events, including games, autograph shows, and visits to National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum during player events, as well as through direct mail requests to athletes and celebrities. The collection included supporting material such as handwritten correspondence sent to athletes (in some cases with payment enclosed), along with photographs of the collector with various signers. A portion of this same collection was featured in our March 21st auction, where multiple items were authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA). In regards to any items with signature(s): While this specific item(s) may not be individually submitted for third-party authentication, it originates from the same collection and shows consistency with previously authenticated pieces. As with many large autograph collections, there may be a small number of facsimile or clubhouse-style signatures present, but for the most part we have seen AUTHENTIC SIGNATURES within the collection. Based on the overall provenance and our review, we maintain a strong level of confidence in the authenticity of most items. Bidders are encouraged to review all photos carefully and bid according to their own level of comfort. No additional authentication documentation is included unless visible within the lot photos. Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition. Items show minor evidence of handling consistent with age, including light surface wear and occasional soft corners. Ink signatures remain bold and legible. The ephemera pieces show typical minor creasing from previous storage.
