Description
BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! An Assortment of NFL and Minor League Football Memorabilia Featuring Signed Washington Redskins Pennant
A collection of vintage and modern American football memorabilia primarily focused on the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Washington Redskins, including items related to the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, and the minor league Harrisburg Patriots. The collection consists of team-issued publications, programs, and collectible ephemera.
Featured Washington Redskins (now Commanders) items include a 1989 Press Guide, two WMAL Redskins Radio 1988 Training Camp Roster sheets, and a June 1991 issue of the Redskins Journal newspaper. The lot contains two burgundy and gold felt pennants. One yellow-background pennant features two signatures in orange marker attributed to Joe Theismann (signed with #7) and Art Monk (signed with #81). No certificate of authenticity or third-party authentication is present for these signatures.
Featured Pittsburgh Steelers items include three NFL Gameday programs: an AFC Playoff game versus the Buffalo Bills (January 9, 1993), an AFC Playoff game versus the Cleveland Browns (January 7, 1995), and an AFC Championship game versus the San Diego Chargers (January 15, 1995). The collection also includes a 1994 Steelers Media Guide, several Super Steelers magazine publications, and a black felt pennant featuring a helmet logo.
Additional items include multiple sheets of Sunoco/DX promotional NFL Action 72 player stamps, two sheets of New England Patriots helmet stickers, a 2008 Buffalo Bills team promotional card, a 1989 Harrisburg Patriots minor league football schedule, and a copy of the book Fighting Back: The Rocky Bleier Story.
Provenance / Authentication Note: This item originates from a single-owner collection assembled by a dedicated sports fan (with a strong focus on Notre Dame and New York Yankees memorabilia). The collector actively pursued autographs over many years through in-person events, including games, autograph shows, and visits to National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum during player events, as well as through direct mail requests to athletes and celebrities. The collection included supporting material such as handwritten correspondence sent to athletes (in some cases with payment enclosed), along with photographs of the collector with various signers. A portion of this same collection was featured in our March 21st auction, where multiple items were authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA). In regards to any items with signature(s): While this specific item(s) may not be individually submitted for third-party authentication, it originates from the same collection and shows consistency with previously authenticated pieces. As with many large autograph collections, there may be a small number of facsimile or clubhouse-style signatures present, but for the most part we have seen AUTHENTIC SIGNATURES within the collection. Based on the overall provenance and our review, we maintain a strong level of confidence in the authenticity of most items. Bidders are encouraged to review all photos carefully and bid according to their own level of comfort. No additional authentication documentation is included unless visible within the lot photos. Please reach out with any questions.
