BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! A Collection of Four Comic Publications Including Rip Off Press Underground Anthologies and Marvel Street-Poet-Ray
This collection consists of four comic-related publications from the 1970s and 1990s. The lot includes two significant underground comix anthologies published by Rip Off Press, Inc. of San Francisco. The Best of The Rip Off Press, Volume One, copyright 1973, features cover art by David Sheridan and a back cover advertisement for Motor City Comics. The Best of The Rip Off Press, Vol. II: The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, copyright 1974, collects the works of Gilbert Shelton and features the characters Phineas, Fat Freddy, Freewheelin Franklin, and Fat Freddy’s Cat. Also included are two issues from Marvel Comics’ experimental 1990 series, Street-Poet-Ray, written and illustrated by Michael Redmond. Issue No. 1 is titled The Word From The Street, and Issue No. 2 is the Earth Day 1990 special. The underground anthologies are large-format trade paperbacks, while the Marvel issues are standard comic book format.
Condition report:
The two Rip Off Press volumes show moderate shelf wear, including edge bumping, light corner creasing, and rubbing along the spine edges. Visible toning and foxing are present on the interior pages, which is typical for the paper stock used in these editions. Street-Poet-Ray No. 1 is in good condition with minor handling wear. Street-Poet-Ray No. 2 is bagged and boarded and appears to be in very good to near-mint condition; a vintage price sticker is adhered to the exterior of the protective bag.
