A WWII German NSDAP (National Socialist German Workers Party) member armband and its original registered shipping envelope. The armband is of red cloth multi-piece construction, featuring a central white circular field with a black swastika composed of applied fabric strips. The associated registered airmail envelope was used to send the item from occupied Germany to the United States. The envelope is addressed to Lt. Charlotte M. Overholt at Gardiner General Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. The return address identifies the sender as Lt. D.A. Overholt, assigned to the 130th Station Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany (APO 209). The envelope bears an Edinburgh postmark dated April 27, 1946, and a Chicago receiving stamp from May 2, 1946.
